What is a Direct
Public Offering
A direct public
offering or DPO is a unique, innovative form of financing.
Under a special
exemption, any business can publicly market and advertise the sale
of its stock to the public without the use of intermediaries, such
as investment bankers and stockbrokers.
There are two
major differences between the DPO and an IPO.
- How it is
marketed and advertised, and
- How it is
resold--in that DPO stock is not listed on a stock exchange.
DPO's can be
effective as a financing method to expand and grow a company, or
even start one.
